How to Practice Self-Care in Less than 20 Minutes

Hello world!

Have you ever been so stressed to the point where breathing is difficult and everything seems to be spinning? And you want to take a break, but you just don't have a ton of time?

I've got just the list for you.

In this day and age, actually taking time to care for yourself can be difficult, especially if you're a full time student or you work full time. That, my friends, is why I have created a list of ways to practice self-care in less than 20 minutes. You can practice these activities to ensure that you have a peaceful rest of your day. Remember, your health and well being come before anything, so take time to take care of yourself.

1. Meditation (I use the app Stop, Breathe and Think. GREAT meditations and a few of them are just a few minutes long.)
2. Wash your hands with warm water and soap. Envision your troubles washing away with the water and soap after you rinse.
3. Write it down! If you have a journal with you or just a piece of paper, write down your feelings. Having your feelings out in front of you can give you a whole new perspective and calm you down.
4. Straighten up the area around you. A messy work area can make it very hard to think and process everything that's going on around you.
5. Drink water. This is one of the absolute best ways you can take care of yourself. Water plays a key role in taking care of yourself and your overall health. Try to drink at least 6-8 glasses a day.
6. Try some relaxing yoga poses (if you are still at home), or, if you aren't at home, try some deep breathing exercises. You'll be amazed at what just breathing can do for you.
7. Put on your favorite song and dance around!
8. Go for a walk to clear your head.
9. Write down 3 things you are grateful for. This short writing exercise can shift your focus from the small things that are stressing you out to the big things that really matter.
10. Snack on some fruit, or make a smoothie (Strawberry Banana is always a good one.) Sit down and enjoy this healthy, refreshing snack.

And there you have it! If you have any questions, feel free to email me or just comment on this post.

Have a lovely day!
Hannah
